It’s not too late to earn cash for Christmas

in Financial Wellness

Christmas is less than a week and a half away! For some this is an exciting feeling, but for others, as the holiday draws closer an overwhelming feeling starts to set in. There are last-minute gifts to purchase and food you have to cook. For many, money becomes tight as the 25th nears. It seems like all we do is spend with not enough income in return.

To help, I’ve gathered a list of easy side jobs that almost anyone can do for some extra income, even with Christmas just around the corner. These jobs are on your own time so you can squeeze one in when it works out for your already busy schedule. These jobs are designed to help you earn extra cash, not replace your income.

Reward sites

Swagbucks is a site where you earn money for answering surveys, watching videos and shop online. In return for completing activities, you receive points that you can turn in for a gift card to a store of your choice. You can use the gift card for holiday shopping, or as a gift for someone else.

PrizeRebel is another online reward site that allows you to earn points by answering surveys, watching videos and online shopping. The only difference is this site allows you to redeem those points in a form of a check or a gift card.

Drive people for cash

Companies like Uber and Lyft are always looking for more drivers. The great thing about both of these companies is that it’s all on your own time. You can clock in and clock as you please. Drive others when it works for your schedule, and the money isn’t too shabby either. Taxi-like companies are especially popular around the holiday season for shoppers who don’t want to worry about parking or driving from store to store.

Grocery Delivery

Delivering groceries is a side job that’s perfect for those who have a few extra hours in their day or week. Instacart allows you to deliver groceries when it’s convenient for you. They hire full service shoppers, who buy and deliver, and in-store shoppers who buy groceries only and the customer picks them up at the store. An added perk is that you’ll probably get a tip, too!

Declutter

Decluttering is a great thing to do during the holiday season before you receive more gifts. Go through items in your house and get rid of items that are no longer of use to you, like unused smart phones, videos games or game consoles. These might be old gifts to you but a new gift to some else. There a lot of garage sale sites on Facebook that make it easy to sell items to those in your community.

SouthPoint VISA purchase rewards

It’s likely that you’re making purchases on plastic instead of cash, so use rewards to purchase gifts! SouthPoint’s Purchase Rewards gives you special promotions when you use your SouthPoint Visa Debit Card. Once you activate exclusive cash back offers within online banking, shop online or in stores to redeem your offers by paying with your card. Cash back offers are deposited right into your SouthPoint checking account at the end of the next month.
