Tom Battis has been named SouthPoint’s Waconia Branch President.

“We knew in order to serve the Waconia community and deliver to the standard expected by our members that we needed to have a strong leader who has a passion and drive to see Waconia thrive,” Sales Manager Brad Haynes said. “Tom brings with him many years of experience and we feel very fortunate to have him as a resource to our members.”

Battis has more than 22 years in the financial industry and came to SouthPoint after most recently working with Frandsen Bank and Trust for more than three years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from St. Mary’s University in Winona and is a native of Eagan. He has lived in Waconia for the past 16 years.

“I am genuinely looking forward to bringing the member owned financial cooperative experience to Waconia and the communities of Carver County,” he said. “After having experienced the traditional banking model both personally and with employment, the for-people, not-for-profit model will be a wonderful option in the community where I live and raise my family. I’m excited to deliver the SouthPoint vision and to provide exceptional service and guidance to our community.”

Waconia will be SouthPoint’s seventh full-service branch and will provide transactional, deposit and loan services, plus house two supporting divisions, SouthPoint Home Mortgage and SouthPoint Investment Services. The Financial Center will also feature a drive-thru with ATM and night deposit for credit union members.

Battis joined SouthPoint in June 2019 and will be working from Waconia’s branch at 502 Cherry Drive when it opens in late 2019. In the interim, he is working from the Hutchinson branch at 1250 Highway 15 South. He can be reached at 952-856-1288.
