(Sleepy Eye, MN – September 28, 2017) – SouthPoint Financial Credit Union will be participating in the first annual CU Forward Day on October 9, 2017. CU Forward Day, formerly known as Plus It Forward, is a statewide day of Minnesota’s credit unions spreading kindness in the communities they serve. The day is held annually on Columbus Day, a federal holiday on the second Monday of October.

Organized by the Minnesota Credit Union Network, approximately 40 credit unions are participating throughout the state. SouthPoint will be closing all branch lobbies and the administrative building for the day so employees can participate in community projects. Branch drive-ups and the Member Solutions call center will remain open regular business hours.

Projects planned for the day include cleaning up local parks, visiting assisted living centers, volunteering at libraries, churches, and humane societies, delivering food to community workers, and more.

“CU Forward Day is an opportunity for our employees to band together and give back to our communities in a tangible way,” said Dick Nesvold, CEO.

To see what SouthPoint employees are doing to spread kindness throughout the day, visit SouthPoint’s Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/SouthPointFCU/ and search the hashtag, #CUForwardDay.

The Minnesota Credit Union Network will gather details from all credit unions participating in CU Forward Day, create a collective report, and share it with the media, legislators, and opinion leaders statewide.
