Sleepy Eye resident and long-time board volunteer Gordon (Gordie) Osmonson was honored for his outstanding service to SouthPoint at its 85th Annual Meeting on April 13.

Osmonson received the CU Builder Award from Minnesota Credit Union Network (MNCUN), virtually presented by MNCUN President and MN CU Foundation President Mark Cummins, and the title of Director Emeritus from SouthPoint Board Chair Matt Lux on behalf of the organization and Board.

“Gordie has been instrumental in the success of SPFCU for many years,” Cummins said. “He has dedicated 100 percent of his time, and his approach to membership and retention to membership has been a large part of the success of the organization.”

Osmonson’s name will be permanently placed at MNCUN’s headquarters in tribute to his dedication and his instrumental usage of the credit union movement, Cummins said.

In addition to being honored as a CU Builder, Osmonson was recognized by the SouthPoint’s Board as the organization’s first honorary director emeritus. This esteemed designation is for Osmonson’s distinguished service, dedication, and leadership to the credit union.

Osmonson served on SouthPoint’s Board of Directors for more than 40 years and served as Board Chair for more than 24 of those years. He retired from his duties after the 84th Annual Meeting in July 2020.

“Thank you to the management team, Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee, employees and the 26,000 member owners of SouthPoint,” Osmonson said. “I really sincerely thank you and thank you for the opportunity to serve you over these many years in representing you to SouthPoint.
